Position Title:      Work Equipment, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate (Undergraduate): $19.00 

Overview of Department:

Department of Subways – Work Equipment (Locomotive Operations) group is part of NYC Transit Division of Car Equipment, which operates 13 maintenance shops and 2 overhaul shops throughout New York City, ensuring safe and reliable subway cars for daily service.

Responsibilities:

  •    Construction of technical reports for procurement and contracts for locomotives
  • Communicating with various NYCT departments
  • Compiling information for training/PeopleSoft Queries/Injuries on Duty (IOD)
  • Review technical manuals and programs for hybrid locomotives
  • Formal Presentation of findings and information related to materials used on railcars to keep them up and running.
  • Create recommendations and remedy suggestions
  •  Ad hoc assignments.

Projects:

  • Creating a Locomotive failure analysis and reporting on the out of service timeline of locomotive car classes
  • Reviewing the transit of special equipment and determining the bottleneck in operations
  • Develop a feasibility report to increase Maintenance and Repairability and present to senior leadership.

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
  • The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills. 
  • The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.

Required Education:

  • Matriculated in undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA
  • Major(s) Preferred: STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics, Business, or related field
