RESPONSIBILITIES
The Maintenance Superintendent will lead and oversee the maintenance and repair of buildings, structures, equipment, and vehicles at one of its facilities. This critical position ensures the uninterrupted service and safe operation of facility infrastructure, including electrical power systems, ventilation, roadway pavement, and lighting.
The Maintenance Superintendent will supervise maintenance staff, manage contractors, and coordinate with multiple internal departments and external agencies to maintain the highest operational standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and manage scheduled and unscheduled maintenance of infrastructure, equipment, and vehicles.
Ensure continuous operation of facility systems, including electrical power, ventilation, and roadway infrastructure.
Supervise represented maintenance employees and outside contractors, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
Maintain the safety of MTA Bridges and Tunnels employees and customers by adhering to safety protocols and responding promptly to emergencies.
Lead snow operations and provide critical support during storms, emergencies, and extreme weather events.
Efficiently manage the facility's budget, including OTPS and overtime expenses.
Oversee the procurement of materials and equipment for critical repairs and projects, ensuring timely delivery.
Provide and supervise maintenance support for Open Road Tolling (ORT), weather systems, and other critical technology infrastructure.
Ensure the proper operation of variable message signs (VMS) and travel time displays, supporting seamless traffic management.
Collaborate with internal departments, including Engineering and Construction, Health and Safety, and Technology, to plan and execute maintenance activities.
Coordinate with external agencies and entities such as FDNY, NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP), and other governmental organizations.
Must hold and maintain required FDNY certifications for fire standpipes, fuel handling, welding, burning, and compressors.
