SUMMARY:
The MTA Bridges and Tunnels (B&T) is seeking dynamic and strategic leaders to fill the position of Vice President (VP) of Facility Management. This executive-level role will oversee the management, operation, and maintenance of MTA B&T’s critical infrastructure, including bridges, tunnels, and supporting facilities. The VP will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operation of facilities while fostering a high level of service delivery and minimizing disruptions to operations and customers.
The incumbent will have oversight of routine operations, significant repairs, and capital projects, ensuring that all work complies with safety, environmental, and operational standards. The role requires strong leadership in managing staffing, training, vendor relations, and budgetary oversight to support efficient facility management operations. The VP will also integrate sustainable practices to reduce environmental impact and enhance infrastructure resilience against climate challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight: Ensure around-the-clock (24x7x365) operations of facilities, prioritizing safety, security, and efficient traffic movement. Oversee all aspects of operational performance, including customer safety, revenue protection, traffic management, emergency and incident response, law enforcement, facility maintenance, and cleanliness. Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory standards while enhancing the customer experience.
Facility Management: Direct and monitor the planning, execution, and ongoing maintenance of critical infrastructure, ensuring facilities are kept in a state of good repair and meet operational and safety standards. Lead the execution of significant repairs and capital projects, ensuring timely completion with minimal disruption to operations.
Performance and Efficiency: Develop and track key performance indicators to monitor operational success, continuously improving efficiency through innovative practices, including energy-efficient methods and advanced systems for toll enforcement and compliance monitoring.
Staffing and Training: Manage staff, allocate resources effectively, and develop training programs to ensure operational staff meet organizational standards and regulatory requirements. Coordinate staffing and budgetary needs to ensure facilities run smoothly and effectively.
Strategic Leadership and Special Projects: Provide strategic recommendations to senior leadership regarding maintenance and construction policies, major capital projects, and innovative solutions. Lead cross-functional and high-priority initiatives, addressing challenges and ensuring projects align with MTA's long-term goals.
Community Relations: Build strong relationships with elected officials, community boards, and public stakeholders to address concerns and align projects with the needs of the community. Represent the organization in public forums and provide regular updates on project progress, impacts, and benefits. Coordinate project activities to minimize public inconvenience and maintain open lines of communication with stakeholders.
Capital Project Coordination: Work closely with MTA Construction and Development (C&D) to ensure the successful scope, planning, and execution of capital projects. Collaborate with other departments, including Technology, Internal Security, and Labor Relations, to ensure seamless coordination and minimize impacts on customers.
