Compensation
Salary Range:  $133,835 – $140,330 (Grade C/702)
Compression Rate: $149,230
 
Responsibilities
The General Superintendent Safety & Environmental Management's primary duty is to administer and coordinate all safety related activities and programs at a facility/depot. He or she must have broad knowledge of both the technical and administrative aspects of day-to-day safety related activities in a facility/depot and will be authorized to make and be accountable for timely decisions related to employee injuries on duty, facility walkthroughs, employee safety training, facility/depot environmental management, and management/labor safety meetings. In addition, the General Superintendent Safety & Environmental Management will also be responsible for collaborating with labor unions and regulatory agencies to address safety concerns as well as performing self-audits and analyses to ensure compliance and uniformity of policies, procedures, and initiatives
aimed at improving the efficiency and cost effectiveness of operations. This manager may also be assigned to more than one work location and assume the responsibilities of other General Superintendents in their absence.
Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • The incumbent will have full responsibility for coordinating the System Safety Program Plan (SSPP), managing the Safety Goal Action Plan (SGAP), all facets of occupational safety, environmental management, monitoring collisions and customer accidents, fire safety/drills, management of injuries on duty, conducting labor/management safety meetings, employee discipline, and self-audits.

  • Assist the facility/depot in identifying and analyzing safety related Issues/trends and making recommendations for improvements.

  • Assist the facility/depot in special projects/programs to ensure compliance and uniformity with policies and procedures

Education and Experience 
1. Eight (8) years of related experience, at least five (5) years of which must have been in a managerial/supervisory capacity; or
2. A satisfactory equivalent of combined education and experience requirements. 
Desired Skills
  • Broad knowledge of NYCT/MTA Bus rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.

  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, DEP, and DEC rules and regulations

  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and leadership skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
