SUMMARY:
The Maintenance of Way Resource Coordinator is responsible to ensure appropriate supervisor is notified of emergencies and non-emergencies that fall under this area of responsibility (i.e. Facility Maintenance, B&B and Track). This position is also responsible for maintaining the M/W trouble-ticket/ Hexagon database for B&B and Facilities maintenance work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Manage all the daily M/W related emergency and non-emergency Help Desk calls, emails, and text messages. Notify the appropriate supervisor in a timely manner to inform them of non-emergencies and emergencies that fall under their area of responsibility, Assigns WOs to respective disciplines within the structures department i.e. heating/AC, B&B issues, derailments, washouts, vandalism, bridge strikes etc. Relaying Help Desk requests to Signal or other groups.
- Maintain the MW (Track and Structures) section computer database of failure and production reports. Generate failure and production reports as requested Provide Wo orders status reports in a monthly basis or as requested, maintain logs and trends. Generate monthly manager call-out calendar. Maintain records of accidents, identify trends regarding accidents and submit recommendations based on findings. Monitor and report on safety talk evaluation data.
- Accurate and up-to-date vehicle logs, inventories, and records of violations, motor vehicle accidents (MVAs), and other incident reports.
- Assist with Weather Emergency Management System (WEMS), including making calls for personnel coverage of all designated areas during inclement weather. Partake on the emergency call out list and WEMS as part of the Operations Department. Maintain SOPs for Structures and Facilities.
- Actively participate in creation and maintenance of a safe work environment following corporate and Engineering Department guidelines and safety policies. Lead by example.
- Perform other assignments as requested by Senior Management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A). Required
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED) approved by a State’s Department of Education or recognized accredited organization.
- Must possess general knowledge of Track and Structures maintenance procedures with approximately 2 years recent, related experience within M/W or and similar operating environment.
- Must possess general knowledge of MW 2000 (procedures for Track Construction and Maintenance), LIRR Physical Plant, WSOP (Winter Storm Operating Procedure), Accident Policy and Procedures (AR1/20/21/30, MV 104), and Engineering Department Chain of Command.
- Must be available 24/7 for weather or other emergency situations.
- Must possess general knowledge of LIRR Geographical Characteristics.
- Must possess working knowledge of various Union Agreements/work rules.
- Must possess strong computer skills (i.e. Word, Excel, GroupWise, Mainframe Applications, MAXIMO, Databases.
- Must possess strong verbal and written communication, conceptual and administrative skills.
- Must be self-motivated with the ability to motivate others and influence decisions.
- Must possess sound judgment and organizational skills.
- Must possess a professional demeanor with a high degree of integrity.
B.) Preferred
- In depth knowledge of LIRR Geographical Characteristics and Components. (i.e. Branches, Subdivisions, Yards, Sidings, Interlockings, Structures), EFMS, WEMS (Weather Emergency Management System), Safety System, CTAMS Time Keeping.
- Knowledge of proper Radio Communications Procedures.
- Degree in Business/Engineering or related field of study.
