COMPENSATION
Salary Range: Min. $159,915- Max. $226,976/ EXEC 1578
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Chief Power Officer will be responsible for the executive direction and control of Electrical (Power) Operations, ensuring a safe and reliable system. The Chief plans, develops, allocates and administers the division’s capital and operating budgets. They oversee the division’s safety program, including the development and maintenance of policies and procedures, and coordinates appropriate responses to emergency situations. The Chief directs the inspection, maintenance, and repair of communication cable systems, including fiber-optics, high and low voltage power cables, electrical circuits, and relay systems. They manage 215 power substations widely distributed throughout the system, including the Power Control Center, the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System, and substation and supervisory control & battery charging equipment. The Chief oversees all the Third Rail Operations along with manages power maintenance activities. They will oversee investigations, assessments, and corrective actions for various corrosion problems. The Chief provides leadership to subordinates in the planning and accomplishment of goals and ensures the enforcement of work rules and safety procedures. This position demands 24/7/365 responsiveness when emergency situations arise, ensuring appropriate actions are taken by Power personnel.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Baccalaureate preferred in Transportation Management, Engineering, or an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
15 years of total experience; 10 years of managerial/supervisory experience.
DESIRED SKILLS (includes but not limited to):
- Extensive knowledge of NYCT & Subways rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Extensive knowledge of power engineering design and operation.
- Knowledge of the NYCT subway system.
- Strong project management skills.
- High level decision making, negotiation, conflict resolution, teambuilding and presentation skills.
- Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
