Responsibility:
The incumbent will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operation of structural inspection teams of supervisors and maintainers on the underground structures. The incumbent will be responsible for collecting MOW Engineering Inspection Reports, assisting in prioritizing and entering them into the EAM database, performing field inspections of reported issues, documenting defects to be included in Capital Program Contracts, and tracking their repairs. The incumbent will also respond to emergency calls from Control or Engineering Managers for issues including but not limited to falling concrete and customer complaints. The candidate will also be responsible for preparing and maintaining inspection schedules; guiding the inspection teams on inspection procedures and training, written reports and overall enforcement of rules, regulations, safety rules, and Policy Instruction Manual; responsible for maintaining payroll records, sick leave, vacation; responsible for scheduling refresher and safety training; enter the payroll into the AS400 * system. He/She will also produce and coordinate the distribution of defect database records and statistical summaries to the Engineering Managers and the Infrastructure Division. The incumbent will be required to communicate with MOW Infrastructure, Control/Command Center, and Engineering personnel. He/She will also be required to perform other duties based on the department's needs.
Education and Experience:
Five years of full-time satisfactory experience with a major railroad or transit authority; at least one year of this experience must have been in a supervisory capacity.
Desired Skills:
- Strong knowledge of subway line and station structures, its component parts, and maintenance and repair procedures.
- Must have a comprehensive working knowledge of computer applications, including Windows, Microsoft Office, INFOR / EAM, AS400 Timekeeping programs, Tunnel View, IRAILS, and DRAW.
- Knowledge of NYCT Procedures, Rules and Regulations, and Safety Practices.
- Must demonstrate a high standard of verbal and written communication skills.
- Must be familiar with maintenance responsibilities and NYCT's organization chain of command.
- Must have good attendance and disciplinary records.
- Willingness to attend a monthly meeting at 130 Livingston with engineering managers off-shift.
- Must be willing to work overtime, including nights and weekends, as required.
