Summary
The Accessibility Manager ensures MTA C&D’s responsibility for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act on the project level for medium- and large business unit-based projects. The expected result of the job is that the position ensures that an assigned project is reviewed and approved at the definition, design, construction, and acceptance steps of a project for Accessibility.
Responsibilities
Can complete all portions of reviewing and approving plans for accessibility compliance, perform inspections, and fully understand the administrative requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Oversee the deployment of staff and consultants to provide accessibility compliance to assigned projects. Utilize third-party services to minimize the review and inspection process.
Be organized to effectively provide the status of accessibility activities through metric-based deliverables.
Represent the FACC Office as the first-level escalation of technical issue resolution within a project.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field with six (6) years of related experience.
Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect desirable.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be an ICC Accessibility Inspector/Plans Examiner or equivalent within 18 months of hire.
Must possess excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
Proficient computer skills (i.e., Windows environment, Microsoft Office, etc.) and strong business administrative skills (i.e., presentations, report and letter writing, time management, etc.).

Pursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the “Commission”).
