This is a Non-Represented Position.

Summary: This position will be involved with the activities related to the Long Island Rail Road Office of Security Capital Program and other LIRR project-level endeavors in conformance with the Office of HQ Security. The position will support Security departmental staff and will be responsible for providing leadership, management, development, integration, and scheduling of all department-involved projects. The position shall be responsible for generating and updating all project reports and assignments and shall be expected to perform presentations to senior departmental staff, upon assignment.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Manage the Security Capital Project budget to include; manpower requirements, system, non-payroll tracking and invoicing, etc.
- Manage the preparation of project-related reports, presentations, research, and studies.
- Manage the processes between project staff, consultants, contractors, and internal railroad departments that reflect the current LIRR procedures, practices, and internal controls.
- Manage the development of office and project-related systems.
- Promote safe work practices and provide safe working conditions. Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to guidelines of company safety policies and procedures. Lead by example.
- All other activities at the request of senior management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Business, Engineering, Security, Project Management, or other related fields of study. Demonstrated equivalent combination of work experience and education may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement, subject to approval.
- Progressively responsible for recent/related 5 years in a Project Management position including experience with emphasis on planning, management, and/or administration.
- Knowledge of project management methods, procedures, and applications.
- Must be able to organize reports and have the ability to analyze and recommend solutions to coordination problems related to meeting project deadlines/schedules and completion. Must be able to read and write technical documentation, reports, and procedures, as well as read and interpret schematics/technical drawings.
- Strong computer skills, knowledge of management systems, and contracts/procurement background are desirable.
- Must possess proven, effective, decision-making, planning, project management, and problem-solving skills, with a high level of professional integrity.
- Experience with MS Project, Word, and Excel strongly preferred.
- Ability to work independently with limited direction.
PREFERRED/DESIRABLE SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Project Management Professional (PMP); Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM) or equivalent
- Experience in maintaining electronic security systems.
- Experience in Mass/public transportation systems.
- Experience in security management including personnel, information, and computer security.
- Working understanding of Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessment (TVRA) and/or Crime prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) principles.
Other Information:
In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the selection process may include but is not limited to, a pre-screening assessment (i.e., physical, written, and/ or practical evaluation) and interview. Candidates forfeit further consideration in the process if they fail to participate in any step of the process when scheduled. Make-up dates/times will not be given. In addition, LIRR employee applicants must be in their current position for the 12 months immediately preceding the close date of this posting and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance and discipline record. A record of more than 10 sick days in two of the last three years is considered unsatisfactory attendance.
