Position Objective:

The purpose of this position is to coordinate the use of MNRs Asset Management System (AMS) with Supervisors Technicians and shop floor personnel within the Maintenance of Equipment (M of E) Mechanical department and provide reporting on the mechanical status for Metro-Norths entire rolling stock and components. Provide ongoing testing of added functionality within AMS and control data entry of all maintenance activity into AMS. Oversee all phases of systems integration needed to provide MNR shop maintenance activities operations via computerized systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage assigned personnel to ensure that a high level of data integrity exists within the AMS. Serve as liaison between subordinates, M of E management, shop personnel, and MNR I/T for problem resolution.
  • Train and manage Operations Support supervisors, technicians, and shop personnel on utilization of Metro-Norths Asset Management System.
  • Develop and publish reports in response to M of E management and business needs.
  • Coordinate Operations Support functions with Process Improvement Team (PIT) activities and Shop management. Provide pertinent information for reviewing rail car maintenance performance.
  • Manage Equipment List (e-list) deployment and maintenance in AMS
  • Assist in required support of new car and component warranty process. Documentation of PCT Parts Control Tags entry of Field Service Report information in AMS.

Required Qualifications:

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to foster teamwork, and to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite products and/or comparable PC applications and/or similar reporting tools.
  • Working knowledge of equipment maintenance practices and operations.
  • Strong knowledge of warranty and claims management processes as well as experience with warranty tracking, reporting, and claim resolutions.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.

The following is/are preferred:

  • Knowledge of MNR Asset Management System (AMS) or similar systems such as Maximo

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Business Management, Engineering, or a related field. Demonstrated equivalent experience, education, and/or technical credentials may be considered in place of a degree.
  • Minimum five (5) years of working in maintenance operations-related fields.

Preferred Education/Experience/Training:

Experience in Statistical Quality Control (SQC) and Total Quality Management (TQM) , quality engineering and management, industrial quality control, quality functions within organizations; and ISO 9000 quality standards

According to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the Commission).

Employees driving company vehicles must complete defensive driver training once every three years for current MNR drivers; or within 180 days of hire or transfer for an employee entering an authorized driving position.
