RESPONSIBILITIES
The Security Operations Center Operator has the following responsibilities: protecting and safeguarding MTA B&T revenue, property, and personnel through monitoring of, reporting on, and notifications regarding all electronic security systems in the Agencys 24/7 Security Operations Center. Responsible for assisting with security operations initiatives, as well as other projects and security initiatives delegated by the Manager of, Security Operations Center. Ability to work various rotating and non-traditional tours, as needed (evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, etc.), and to be held for mandatory overtime.
This position will also be assigned and/or deployed to address any Internal Security Department or B&T Security issues as deemed appropriate.
This position is responsible for ensuring the security of MTA B&Ts revenue, property and personnel by staffing the Agencys 24/7 Security Operation Center.
QUALIFICATIONS
A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in criminal justice, security management, business administration, or public administration, forensic science/computing, auditing, or a closely related major.
One (1) year experience in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Forensic Science/Computing, or a closely related field.
Additional years of experience can be substituted in lieu of education.
Associate degree in disciplines listed above and 3 years of experience as above.
High School Diploma and 5 years of experience as per above.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows based operating systems, Microsoft office, and other applications.
Valid Drivers License
Proficient written and oral communication skills in English as well as the ability to collect and interpret data effectively from verbal and written sources.
Ability to work rotating and non-traditional tours (evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays)
Ability to be held for mandatory overtime.
Ability to work in a multi-faceted, fast paced, and high intensity emergency environment while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
Ability to make critical decisions based on current data, experience, and business rules.
Superior event/task prioritization, organizational, and analytic based reporting skills.
Ability to effectively complete multiple critical parallel/concurrent tasks (multi-tasking).
Ability to pass a thorough background investigation.
PREFERRED
Network troubleshooting experience and formal training for Level 1 support.
Geographical familiarity with the New York City Metropolitan region.
Experience with access control systems, closed circuit television (CCTV) systems, intrusion detection systems or emergency dispatching (Police/Fire/EMS).
Ability to work independently with limited direction.
Previous experience in mass/public transportation systems.
