RESPONSIBILITIES
The Director of Operations, Bridges and Tunnels is responsible for shepherding the overall planning, management, and operation of one or more bridge and/or tunnel facilities. This senior facility management position aids in the conceptualization and implementation of Authority-wide policies, procedures. The Director of Operations is responsible for implementing traffic management solutions geared towards fostering a high level of service delivery to ensure the expeditious and efficient movement of traffic across MTA Bridges and Tunnels' facilities and through its connecting corridors.
The position also provides high-level oversight of B&Ts around-the-clock, 24x7x365 operation and maintenance of two or more facilities, allocating personnel and other resources to all areas of facility operations. These actions are taken to ensure customer & employee safety, overall delivery of service & customer experience, security, law enforcement, revenue protection & recovery, traffic management, emergency & incident management, capital projects & state of good repair, customer experience, labor issues, community relations, internal and external regulatory compliance, facility maintenance & cleanliness, time and leave matters, effective scheduling, and ensuring compliance with all training requirements.
The incumbent interfaces with all departments within MTA B&T, other MTA agencies, and external stakeholders to ensure operational needs are met. This outreach also fosters cooperative relationships with partners which serves to aid in enhancing regional interoperability, enhances communication with stakeholder agencies, and responds to dynamic community concerns.
The Director of Operations directly supervises Operations Superintendents, Captains, and Maintenance Superintendents at one or more facilities as a part of a Command Management Team. This position is also responsible for the activities and performance of B&Ts represented workforce consisting of the law enforcement sector (Lieutenants, Sergeants, and Officers) as well as all levels of Bridge and Tunnel Maintainers.
The Director of Operations provides direction on initiatives and guidance to improve facility and employee performance and ensures the efficient and effective use of facility resources to meet its goals and objectives.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree and ten (10) years full-time experience in the following areas: law enforcement, business administration, public administration, operations and/or maintenance or related field with a minimum of five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or
Associates degree and twelve (12) years full-time experience in the areas stated above, with a minimum of five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or
High school graduation or its equivalent and fourteen (14) years of satisfactory full-time experience in the areas stated above, including five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
Must have a drivers license valid in the State of New York.
Proficiency with MS office Suite
