COMPENSATION
Civil Engineer I (TA) Min. $85,147 – Max. $107,227
Civil Engineer II (TA) Min. $101,229 – Max. $122,295
Civil Engineer III (TA) Min. $113,239 – Max. $133,496
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The incumbent(s) will work as part of a team within the NYCT Maintenance of Ways – Defect Reduction Program and Structural Inspections. Operating in all facets of Civil engineering, including structural design, design review, structural inspections, database management, project planning and project management, and punch list inspections for NYCT Capital Projects; the incumbent will be a part of a dedicated staff of engineers that aims to keep New York City’s main transportation artery structurally safe for service.
Additional duties will include Preparing and performing training for inspectors, maintainers, and engineers. As part of a weekly rotational assignment shared by other staff engineers for less than five weeks per year, the Incumbent(s) will also be on call 24 hours/day to respond to trouble calls and emergencies relating to structural conditions.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
A valid New York State Professional Engineer's License and four (4) years of full-time experience in civil engineering.
A master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited college will be accepted as equivalent to one year of the full-time experience in civil engineering
DESIRED SKILLS:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient with the latest version of MicroStation.
• Knowledge of MS Office suite, internet and mobile applications, and databases.
• Knowledge of structural inspection of concrete and steel.
• Ability to read and write technical drawings and correspondence.
• In-depth knowledge of construction design and code issues.
