Responsibilities
Standards & Compliance
In Paratransit, the selected candidate will perform random audits and oversee carrier/contractor vehicles, facilities, and records to ensure a safe fleet is maintained to transport riders. May be required to travel out of state to perform quality control inspections at vehicle manufacturing facilities. Visits to vendor's manufacturing plants include inspections, testing and approval of shipments of newly designed/built buses.
Selected candidate will be required to work with various contractors to support On-Board Vehicle Surveillance Camera Systems, AVLM/GPS Systems and Zero Emissions Vehicles.
Investigation of customer complaints pertaining to AAR (Access-A- Ride) Vehicles is required. Assist with Research and Development of vehicle equipment to enhance the customer experience to better serve our customers.
Provide carrier maintenance personnel with training on various vehicle equipment and systems to ensure vehicles are maintained in accordance of manufacturer’s requirements.
Evaluation and determination of AAR vehicle service ready condition at expiration term of AAR carrier contracts.
Retirement and liquidation of AAR vehicles in accordance with MTA policy.
Evaluate and determine reliability of vehicle manufacturer’s warranty repairs.

Education and Experience
Five (5) years of related experience, including a minimum of two (2) years of supervisory/managerial experience; or
A satisfactory equivalent of education/experience
Desired Skills
Strong knowledge of vehicular maintenance operations and preventative maintenance procedures
Mechanical experience (i.e., repairing automobiles, trucks, buses, aircraft, heavy equipment)
Knowledge of AAR Maintenance practices
Experience in personnel development, work prioritization
Must be able to make decisions rapidly and under pressure and effectively deal with availability of labor and equipment constraints.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
PC skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
Knowledge of light-duty revenue vehicles, new bus technologies, and the maintenance procedures/standards required to maintain them, including an understanding of specifications.
Knowledge of vehicle systems and components
Knowledge of design, manufacturing processes, product testing and maintenance procedures
