Compensation: 

Mechanical Engineer 1 (TA): $85,147 - $107,227 

Mechanical Engineer 2 (TA): $101,229 - $122,295 

Mechanical Engineer 3 (TA): $113,239 - $133,496 

  

Responsibilities: 

The incumbent will provide support for C&D projects within the Work Car Engineering group. They will be tasked to support contractors rail vehicles inspection, testing and approval for C&D projects and ensuring availability of NYCT Work Trains to support C&D projects. The incumbent will review technical documents, schematics, and technical drawings to support in analysis, testing, and troubleshooting. They may prepare or supervise the development and or review the mechanical engineering aspects of the basic design plan or major projects. 

  

Education and Experience: 

  

A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License and either: 

1. A master’s degree in mechanical engineering from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in mechanical engineering work; or 

2. Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in mechanical engineering work. 

  

Special Note: 

In addition to above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in 

Assignment Levels II and III, individuals must have at least one year within the last 

three years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project. 

  

Desired Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite

  

Selection Method: 

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview. 

  

All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
