Summary
Technical Specialist 2 will be involved in all MTA C&D project lifecycle phases, including planning, scheduling, analysis, design, technical specifications, and reports.
Responsibilities
The role will entail some of these typical duties:
Assists in the design of various aspects of a project for MTA systems and infrastructure.
Performs technical and feasibility studies, including analyzing historical data, surveys, reports, and as-builts to create innovative design projects.
Reviews designs, performs/reviews tests and assessments of equipment, software, and materials, and functions/reviews technical calculations.
Conducts site visits to obtain existing conditions and correctly identify project design and delivery risks.
Provides technical field support for system/equipment installation and project construction.
Embraces mentoring from senior staff.
Adheres to corporate quality control standards within the area of technical expertise.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate technical discipline, Engineering Technology/Engineering Science, or an equivalent subject.
Must have a minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
A satisfactory equivalent of specialized experience in planning, specification, design, and/or installation inspection of railroad signal systems may be substituted for the educational requirement, subject to approval.
Competencies:
Knowledge of the capital design and construction process.
Knowledge of relevant industry standards and installation practices.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in current design and engineering software and Microsoft Office are required.
Experience visiting the field for initial scope/survey and construction oversight preferred.
