Salary Range (Grade E/551): $87,951 (Min) - $124,834 (Max)   




This position is accountable for directing the design, implementation and enforcement of the warranty and reliability program for all new car contracts such that the Carbuilders meet their contractual obligations for the provision of warranty parts, repairs and troubleshooting to ensure the availability of the cars for service and to account for an estimated $50 million of warranty work. The position is also responsible for tracking reliability for new subway car systems and components to ensure the attainment of required reliability for MDBF, Fleet Defect and MDBSCF measures, the implementation of the R160 subway car Serialized Asset Management Program and the provision of reliability data to Senior Management and regulatory agencies for the entire new car fleet.   


Education and Experience:   


A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Industrial Management, Economics, or a related field and ten (10) years of related experience, and three (3) years of experience in a managerial/supervisory capacity; OR   


A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience.   


Desired Skills:   

  • Thorough knowledge of car systems and reliability gained through at least 15 years of progressively responsible experience in subway car manufacturing, overhaul and maintenance, in the management of repairing and maintaining various classes of rail cars and rail car systems.
  • Knowledge of and experience with client server Oracle database is essential.
  • Supervisory/Managerial experience – At least 10 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
  • Project management experience is a plus.

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.   


All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
