Summary
The Code Manager ensures MTA C&D's responsibility for compliance with the State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code and State Energy Conservation Construction Code on the project level for medium- and large business unit-based projects. The expected results of the job are that the position ensures that an assigned task is reviewed and approved at the project's definition, design, construction, and acceptance steps for code compliance.
Responsibilities
Performs or ensures completion of all portions of code compliance, including reviewing and approving plans for code compliance, performing code inspections, and fully understanding and implementing the administrative requirements of the Uniform Code.
Manages the deployment of staff and consultants to provide code compliance services to assigned projects. Utilizes third-party services to minimize the review and inspection process.
Maintains organization to effectively provide the status of code compliance activities through metric-based deliverables.
Represents the Fire, ADA, and Code Compliance Office as the first-level contact for escalation of technical issue resolution within a project.
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
Must have a minimum of seven (7) years of related experience.
Competencies:
Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect desirable.
Must be a Certified Code Enforcement Official within 18 months of hire.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
Proficient computer skills (i.e., Windows environment, Microsoft Office, etc.) and strong business administrative skills (i.e., presentations, report and letter writing, time management, etc.).

Pursuant to the New York State Public Officers Law & the MTA Code of Ethics, all employees who hold a policymaking position must file an Annual Statement of Financial Disclosure (FDS) with the NYS Commission on Ethics and Lobbying in Government (the "Commission").
