Summary:
The position of Traveling Foreman is a supervisory position within the Stations
Department. This position is responsible for all aspects of station cleaning and ensuring it is  performed efficiently and in a safe manner by Station Appearance Maintainers under their
jurisdiction. If selected for the position core curriculum classes must be completed.

Responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

-Responsible for all aspects of the routine cleaning, power washing and equipment,
heavy- duty cleaning including stripping and waxing of floor surfaces, graffiti
removal, and snow removal under jurisdiction. Must complete all paperwork and
reports required and instruct and assist employees in the completion of their
paperwork.
-Supervise the daily activities and performance of all Assistant Foremen and Station
Appearance Maintainers under jurisdiction. Plan and implement cleaning
projects at various locations throughout the LIRR.
-Must be able to work in all areas and respond to any situation that may arise on a
24/7/365 basis. When required, Foreman must perform cleaning duties.
-Ensure that all work is being performed in a safe manner and be familiar with the
Roadway Worker In Charge Protection Program.
-Conduct safety meetings, station safety inspections and report all defects, monitor
and follow-up on corrective actions.
-Responsible for the ordering, receipt, issuance and monitoring of cleaning supplies
for locations under jurisdiction.
-Ensure that all equipment and vehicles are in good working order.
-Responsible for reporting to and reporting of all employee accidents and vehicle
accidents within jurisdiction as well as completing all necessary documentation and
investigations.
-Responsible for security of all equipment.

Qualifications:
-A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED or TASC) approved by a State's Department of Education or recognized accredited organization.
-Must possess a minimum of five years cleaning experience, three of which must be as a Station Appearance Maintainer within the last five years.
-Strong interpersonal skills to effectively supervise employees.                                                              -Must have a valid driver's license from the state of your legal residence.
-Must be familiar with all relevant safety work rules.
-Must have knowledge of the various types of cleaning equipment and their utilization for routine cleaning, heavy duty cleaning, the hot water spray truck, graffiti removal, graffiti sealing operation and snow removal.
-Required to wear minimum Level D type protective clothing (as prescribed by OSHA regulations) which includes, but is not limited to, safety shoes and full length pants.

Other Information:

In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the selection process may include, but is not limited to, a pre-screening assessment (i.e., physical, written and/ or practical evaluation) and interview. Candidates forfeit further consideration in the process if they fail to participate in any step of the process when scheduled. Make up dates/times will not be given. In addition, LIRR employee applicants must be in their current position for the 12 months immediately preceding the close date of this posting and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance and discipline record. A record of more than 10 sick days in two of last three years is considered unsatisfactory attendance.  Not all qualified applicants are guaranteed an interview due to the competitive selection process. A medical examination and safety sensitive drug/alcohol test may also be required.
