Compensation

Assistant Civil Engineer: $71,726-$93,587         New Hire Rate: $62,371  


Civil Engineer I- $85,147- $107,227                    New Hire Rate: $74,039

Civil Engineer II- $ 101,229-$122,295                 New Hire Rate: $88,026
Civil Engineer III- $113,239-$133,496                 New Hire Rate: $98,468

Note: A degree in any other engineering area, or in any engineering technology area, is not acceptable. Current New York State registration as a Professional Engineer must be maintained for the duration of your employment.


Responsibilities:

Under direction, the incumbent will be responsible for the coordination of design reviews for NYCT Capital Projects.  Reviews include but not limited to elevators, escalators, line structure rehabilitation, station components repair/renewal, plumbing and utilities.  The incumbent will represent Maintenance of Way at design review meetings, field investigations and other project design activities.  The incumbent will gather, coordinate, and prepare comments and correspondence to the Design Management Office and the Design-Build Team.   Design reviews cover Project Requirements and Design Criteria as well as design progress distributions.

 

Education and Experience:


Assistant
Civil Engineer

A Baccalaureate degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or

 

2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and a master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university.


Civil Engineer I-III

A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License and either:

  1. A master’s degree in civil engineering from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
  2. Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory experience in civil engineering work.

In addition to the above qualification requirements, to be eligible for placement in level II and III, individuals must have at least one (1) year within the last three (3) years of experience as a major contributor or a project leader on a complex project requiring additional and specific expertise in the disciplines needed to design or construct the project.


Desired Skills:

  • Preferable computer savvy with CAD software and other MS office software.
  • Preferable knowledge of using surveying equipment.


Selection Method
:

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.

 

All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
