Summary
Assistant Engineer Level 2 assists in the review and analysis of technical systems and facilities of third-party projects that may impact MTA C&D. This role performs simple routine engineering design tasks with standard techniques. Assists more senior engineers in the preparation of as-built easements, easement contracts, and engineering reviews.
Responsibilities
Reviews and supervises various analyses that may impact MTA properties and structures.
Performs technical and feasibility studies, including analyzing historical data, surveys, reports, and as-builts to review innovative engineering design projects.
Reviews designs, assess materials, and performs/reviews engineering calculations.
Embraces mentoring from senior staff.
Adheres to corporate quality control standards within the discipline.
Coordinates with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in the appropriate Engineering discipline (Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering).
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
Competencies:
Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Must be capable of working on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local jurisdiction permitting regulations is a plus.
Analytical ability, pro-active attitude, willingness to learn, and an ability to think "outside the box" when required.
A general understanding of current design, engineering software, and Microsoft Office is required.
