Summary
The Engineering Manager Level will be involved in the review of third-party projects that may impact MTA C&D properties and structures, including analysis, design review, technical specifications, and reports.
Responsibilities
Reviews and supervises various analyses that may impact MTA properties and structures.
Performs technical and feasibility studies, including analyzing historical data, surveys, reports, and as-builts to create and review innovative engineering design projects.
Reviews designs, tests, and assesses materials and performs/reviews engineering calculations.
Manages a small team of design engineers.
Embraces mentoring from senior staff.
Adheres to corporate quality control standards within the discipline.
Coordinates with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in the appropriate Engineering discipline (Civil, Structural, Geotechnical Engineering).
Must have a minimum of six (6) years of related experience.
Must have a minimum of two (2) years in design review or management or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization.
Competencies:
Registered NYS Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required and will sign and seal.
Experience performing site inspections, documenting site conditions and construction activities, coordinating with Agency Owner and contractor staff, and responding to contractor requests for information.
Experience in NYCT systems preferred.
Knowledge of applicable industry and NYS building and design codes and standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must have focus and ability to deliver results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
Must possess excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
Proficiency in current design and engineering software and Microsoft Office are required.
Has experience in interpreting engineering reports and analysis.
An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee culture is a must.
Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines.
Knowledge of the capital design and construction process.
