Summary
Assistant Engineer Level 2 assists in designing, developing, implementing, and analysis of technical systems and facilities for MTA C&D.
This role performs simple routine engineering design tasks with standard techniques—assists more senior engineers in preparing plans, designs, computation methods, and reports.
Responsibilities
Perform engineering tasks by developing knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards, and processes.
Provides engineering support on multiple design projects, including analyzing and documenting critical design elements.
Develops site layout/grading, elevated structure, roadway/transit/pedestrian facilities, marine structures, utility design, stormwater management facilities, and erosion & sediment control plans and details.
Coordinates and communicates with team members to determine requirements and incorporate feedback.
Coordinates with Agency Owners, designers, contractors, outside consultants, and other government agencies.
Education and Experience
Bachelor of Science degree in the appropriate Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Communications, Track, Signals, Environmental, Fire Protection).
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
Competencies:
Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Must be capable of working on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local jurisdiction permitting regulations is a plus.
Analytical ability, pro-active attitude, willingness to learn, and an ability to think "outside the box" when required.
A general understanding of current design, engineering software, and Microsoft Office is required.
