Operations Training is a unit within the Department of subways responsible for training its 28,000 employees. Operations Training provides approximately 350 individual courses focusing on: safety, induction of new hires and promotees, and skill refreshers. Programs are developed in partnership with NYC Transit’s departments and where appropriate, other MTA agencies, in response to mandates by Federal, State, and City entities.

Compensation:
 Salary Range: $77,463 - $114,945 
 (Grade F)
Compression Minimum: $115, 240
 
Responsibilities:

The Superintendent position is responsible for managing Rapid Transit Operations induction, refresher, and all ancillary training for Train Operator and Conductors. Knowledge of all rules and procedures governing safe train operation. Responsibilities includes working closely with the Director and Superintendents within the unit to ensure all training needs are met for the Operating departments; developing training curriculum and materials, reviewing the efficiency and effectiveness of curriculum to ensure the best practices are utilized; monitoring the TSS for effective delivery of courses; developing courses with the use of new technology; implementing changes to the training curriculum and incorporating new initiatives; and working with various departments throughout the organization; conduct field practicals in train yards and on the mainline. Must be able to conduct practical’s in train yards and climb on/off trains, walk elevated structures, subway tracks and tunnels.

Thorough knowledge of NYCT rules and regulations.

 Education and Experience:

An Associate degree in transportation management or public administration, and eight (8) years of full-time related professional experience of which four (4) years must have been in the managerial/supervisory capacity. Or;

A satisfactory combination of education and experience.

 Selection Method:

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.

 All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
