Responsibilities

The Associate Project Manager (APM) provides Asset Management Information System support to Depot Operations, Support Fleet Services, and the Central Maintenance shops. Accountable for training of depot management, supervisory, and hourly employees on the correct use of appropriate asset information system modules essential to their daily operation.

  • Performs research and provides analytical management information to Department heads, Division and Depot Managers, and Support Fleet Services using available report writing and data extraction tools such as Crystal reports, Oracle Discoverer, Tableau and SQL.
  • Analyze and collaborate on complex database and application problems.
  • Participate in the development of business strategies to improve fleet performance. Design and collaborate on the configuration and set up of assets.
  • Interacts with MTA Technical Information Service (TIS) to coordinate upgrades and enhancements to system functionality to improve asset maintenance capabilities.
  • Efficiently uses MTA IT resources to resolve issues and apply enhancements designed to improve asset maintenance information and optimize resources.

 Education and Experience

Associate Project Manager:

One year of full-time satisfactory experience in supervising employees performing project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating, or expediting, on engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects, or supervising a construction project with a value of $1,000,000 or more, and either:

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in project management work, such as planning, administering, managing, coordinating or expediting, for engineering and/or architectural and/or landscape architectural projects; or
  2. A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of experience as described in "1" above; or
  3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent plus any combination of college education and/or experience described in "1" above to make up the equivalent of five years of education and experience. One year of experience credit will be given for: (a) each 30 semester credits of college education leading to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration; (b) a Master’s degree from an accredited university in one of the disciplines described in "1" above; or (c) a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer, Registered Architect or Registered Landscape Architect.

Assignment Level II: Special Requirements:

In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for Assignment Level I, candidates must have at least one additional year of experience as described in "1" above in a supervisory capacity or have served for at least one year as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.

Assignment Level III: Special Requirements:

In addition to meeting the qualification requirements for Assignment Level I, candidates must have at least two additional years of experience as described in "1" above in a supervisory capacity or have served for at least two additional years as a project manager for a large and/or complex construction project.

Desired Skills

-Experience in the modification and customization of Asset Management Applications, extracting information from a relational database (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server).

-Strong PC Skills. Excellent analytical, interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with technical and business representatives.

-Ability to work with various degrees of supervision, alone or in teams.

-Ability to set priorities while working on several projects simultaneously within limited timeframes.

-Knowledge of DOB business and maintenance applications desirable.
