Staff Analyst Trainee I (TA): $46,171 - $48,938 (New Hire rate: $40,149)
Staff Analyst Trainee I (OA): $50, 924 - $53,980

Staff Analyst Trainee II (TA): $49,864 - $55,406) (New Hire rate: $43,361)
Staff Analyst Trainee II (OA): $55,001 - $61,111

Responsibilities: 

The position will assist with accounting, reconciliation and reporting functions associated with stop payment requests, check cancellations, and special payments supporting business requirements on behalf of NYCT/MaBSTOA, manage accounts and prepare reports associated with NYCT/MaBSTOA employee special payments, payroll adjustments and pension payouts. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations such as:

  • Request stop payments and cancellation for all accounts, TA &OA compensation, Cashiers, Travel Allowance and MetroCard.
  • Monitor Chase "Positive Pay" check exceptions for all accounts and determine if check is good or fraudulent.
  • Upload checks issued "file" to the bank system, including TA, OA, MetroCard, TAB, Cashier Treasurer's account, Travel Allowance, and Mail & Ride.
  • Assist with preparing deposit reports for operating fund for BSC.
  • Assist with preparing funding request report for checks issued for payroll adjustments accounts and submit to Treasury.
  • Assist with processing bid deposit wires incoming and outgoing (refund of deposit) for custodial and South Brooklyn as needed, prepare, and submit funding request to HQ Treasury.
  • Assistance with the reconciliation of the monthly closings in both TA/OA compensation accounts.
  • Assist with preparing monthly reports for checks issued and cleared from cashier and treasurer accounts, Transit Adjudication Bureau Accounts, Payroll Adjustments, and Custodial and Pension accounts that are used by BSC for bank reconciliations.

Education and Experience:

Staff Analyst Trainee I:

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; or
  2. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; or in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; or in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification; or in personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or
  3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s Department of Education, or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in “2” above; or
  4. A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to “1”, “2”, or “3” above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma or its education equivalent.

Staff Analyst Trainee II: 

Completion of 1 year of satisfactory service as a Staff Analyst Trainee I

Desired Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Excel).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizing skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and exercise good judgement.
  • Prior Timekeeping/Payroll experience preferred.

Selection Method:

Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
