Summary

Senior Technical Specialist 2 will be involved in all MTA C&D Stations Business Unit project lifecycle phases, including planning, scheduling, analysis, design, technical specifications, and reports. 

Responsibilities

The role will entail some of these typical duties:

Designs/supervise various aspects of a project for MTA systems and infrastructure.

Performs/supervises technical and feasibility studies, including analyzing historical data, surveys, reports, and as-builts to create innovative design projects.

Provides expertise to resolve technical issues. 

Researches and recommends solutions for systems integration and interface issues.

Reviews designs, performs/supervises tests and assessments of equipment, software, and materials, and functions/reviews technical calculations.

Conducts/supervises site visits to obtain existing conditions and correctly identify project design and delivery risks.

Plans and coordinates required project approval documentation and permits where applicable.

Provides/supervises technical field support for system/equipment installation and related project construction.

Manages a small team of technical staff.

Embraces mentoring from senior staff.

Adheres to corporate quality control standards within the area of technical expertise.

Coordinates with in-house engineering disciplines and other areas of technical expertise as needed.

 

Education and Experience

 

Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate technical discipline or an equivalent subject.

 

Various disciplines may include but are not limited to Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Computer, Communications, Electrical, Electronics, Signals, or Systems Engineering/Technology.

 

Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience.

 

Must have a minimum of four (4) years in a managerial or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization and/or with highly complex systems.

Competencies:  Experience performing site inspections, system testing activities, overseeing equipment installation, documenting test results, site conditions, and project activities, coordinating with Agency Owner and contractor staff, and responding to contractor requests for information.

 

PMP or relevant technical certifications are desirable. 

 

NYS Licensed Professional Engineer a plus.

 

Knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.

 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Must have focus and ability to deliver on results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.

 

Must possess excellent team building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.

 

Proficiency in current design and engineering software and Microsoft Office are required.

 

Experience in interpreting technical drawings, reports, and analysis.

 

An attitude and commitment to actively participating in our employee culture is necessary.

 

Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines.

 

Knowledge of the capital design and construction process.
