SUMMARY
The Manager of Corporate Project Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Compliance position would serve as the LIRR’s primary point person for performing thorough environmental, health and safety reviews of all submittals from the contractors performing various large-scale capital-funded projects. This position will ensure that the LIRR’s environmental, health and safety objectives are responded to in a timely manner and all environmental, health and safety compliance requirements are met. This position will also be responsible for responding to environmental emergencies; to act as an interface and liaison between the LIRR and all environmental regulatory authorities and provide direction to contractors and LIRR forces on-site regarding environmental compliance and issues.
PREFERRED/DESIRABLE SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate Degree in Environmental, Industrial Hygiene, or similar
- Direct experience with Railroad or Commuter Transit
- Engineering or other licenses/certifications/credentials
- NYSDEC 4 hr. Erosion & Sediment Control Training Certification

In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the selection process may include, but is not limited to, a pre-screening assessment (i.e., physical, written and/ or practical evaluation) and interview. In addition, LIRR employee applicants must be in their current position for the 12 months immediately preceding the close date of this posting and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance and discipline record. Absence control violation(s) or more than ten sick days without medical documentation in two of last three years is considered unsatisfactory attendance. Not all qualified applicants are guaranteed an interview due to the competitive selection process. A medical examination and safety sensitive drug/alcohol test may also be required.
