Compensation:
Salary Range: $59,125 - $62,260
Responsibilities:
There are several available positions in the Division of Car Equipment. The positions are, but not limited to, the following groups:
Maintenance Support - Under the direction of Maintenance support managers, the candidate will assist other analysts or engineers in the development of the Schedule Maintenance System (SMS) component plan, prepare Bill of Materials (BOM), conduct teardowns and provide engineering technical support to various maintenance shops and departments. Perform and review research on parts. Implement component description changes. Update and setup material specification and standards in the NYCT Commodity Management System (CMS). Use In-Design and FrameMaker to prepare maintenance documents and asset management database (RSMIS Spear) to monitor and track installation of repaired and upgraded subway car components.
Work Car Group – The candidate will assist other engineers with the engineering review, approval as well as testing of new locomotives that are being procured under the R34255 or R34257 Projects. Assist other engineers to plan, coordinate, implement, approve/disapprove contractor's submittals related to mechanical or electrical systems design of Work Equipment. Duties will also include assisting the review of engineering analyses, prototypes of mechanical or electrical systems, components and design modifications, witness testing at vendors' sites, review and approve/disapprove performance tests requirement for Work Equipment, schedule and monitor performance tests, analyze and prepare reports on tests results and failure analyses reports, develop specifications detailing equipment performance quality standards, work scopes, manuals, procedures, engineering drawings and provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel, develop and analyze corrective action programs designed to ensure proper function of systems for Work Equipment.
New Car Quality Assurance – The candidate responsibilities may include understanding, analyzing and reviewing technical documentation and correspondence submitted by Railcar Car Builder. Assist in performing First Article Inspections at Car builder and supplier manufacturing locations. Assist in performing Quality Assurance System Audits of Car builders and Suppliers. Provide detailed reporting of First Article Inspections and Quality Assurance System Audits. Monitor and track performance of Pre Shipment Inspections at supplier locations. Assist in the performance of commissioning of newly procured subway cars with detailed inspections of the car interior, exterior and underfloor and participating in Qualification Testing at various locations throughout NYCT subway system. A valid Driver’s License is essential for this job.
R211 New Train Technology Engineering – The candidate will support the R211 program providing engineering and technical support for carborne electrical and mechanical systems. The candidate will be trained to review contractor submittals including engineering analysis and drawings for the R211 subway cars, review performance test requirements, schedule and monitor performance tests, analyze and prepare reports on test results and failure analysis reports.
Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college with a major sequence of courses in electrical, mechanical, civil, transportation or computer engineering or electrical/electronic technology.
Selection Method:
Based on evaluation of education, skills, experience, and interview.
All appointments, with the exception of the Department of Subways employees on MABSTOA payroll, will be made on the NYCT payroll.
