SALARY:             Level 3 – Step 1: $69,092   Step 7: $98,703

                             Level 4 – Step 1: $76,001   Step7: $108,573

                             Level 5 – Step 1: $86,703   Step 7: $123,862

LOCATION:         2 Broadway New York, NY 10004

HOURS OF WORK:  8:30 AM - 5:00 PM (8.0 hours/day) or as required.

Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to direct, administer, and provide guidance and technical support to MTA’s complex, Hybrid (on Premise and Cloud) Active Directory environment and the technologies for the MTA’s Directory Services and Collaboration Initiatives, including installation and maintenance of highly complex computer systems and software configurations.

Responsibilities

Level 3 

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot complex hardware and/or software solutions supporting MTA’s server and storage environment to ensure that all MTA application and systems availability targets are met.
  • Configure and install servers for various functions, including but not limited to application servers, database servers, domain controllers, web servers and storage area networks.
  • Work with database administrators, network administrators, help desk staff and other IT technical resources to coordinate server and storage infrastructure requirements and analyze / troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Ensure all required system documentation and record keeping requirements associated with maintaining and controlling IT assets are completed accurately, timely and in accordance with MTA policies and procedures and department requirements.
  • Participate in the evaluation of new products and technologies.
  • Guide less senior technicians and staff in the performance of their tasks.
  • Design and engineer effective and efficient solutions and standards to be applied within the IT Department.
  • Assist with the physical planning associated with the installation of server and storage technology.

 Level 4:

Same as Level 3 with the following additional responsibilities:

  • Plan, design and engineer solutions and standards to be applied within the IT department.
  • Contribute to the planning and coordination of tasks associated with the installation of server and storage technology.

Level 5

Same as Level 4 with the following additional responsibilities:

  • Lead the evaluation of new products and technologies and provide input into the overall impact of introducing the technology in the MTA environment.
  • Lead the planning and coordination of tasks associated with the installation of server and storage technology.

 Qualifications

Level 3

  • Advanced knowledge configuring and maintaining and troubleshooting Microsoft Azure-based Cloud Infrastructure. Experience in a Hybrid environment is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Domain Name System, PKI, Group Policies.
  • Scripting experience. Experience with Powershell or C# is a plus.
  • Knowledge of LDAP is desirable.
  • Admin experience with Windows ADDS and AD LDS Infrastructures in an enterprise environment. Experience with Quest Products for Active Directory is a plus.
  • Experience with administering Office 365 and Exchange Online is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge and familiarity with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer server hardware, operating system software and storage area network equipment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and support technical issues both remotely and on-site using standard MTA tools and techniques.
  • Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, technical manuals, and documentation such that supported equipment and software can be maintained with minimal training.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Must be able to move and lift up to 25lbs of equipment such as switches, routers, UPS, laptops, firewalls, etc.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer server hardware, operating system software and storage area network equipment.
  • Ability to provide technical direction to less senior staff members.
  • Strong knowledge and familiarity with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer server hardware, operating system software and storage area network equipment.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Ability to plan, design and engineer technical solutions and standards.

Level 4:

 Same as Level 3 with the following additional qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge and familiarity with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting computer server hardware, operating system software and storage area network equipment.
  • Ability to plan, design and engineer technical solutions and standards.
  • Demonstrated experience guiding less senior technicians and staff in the performance of their tasks.
  • Strong knowledge and working experience with Active Directory and with Azure.
  • Strong knowledge and working experience with supporting blade server technology and Netapp storage solutions.
  • Strong knowledge and working experience with VMware.
  • Ability to plan activities and provide advanced technical direction to less senior staff members.

Level 5:

Same as Level 4 with the following additional qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience providing technical direction to less senior staff members.
  • Strong people skills and proven leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience planning activities and provide advanced technical direction to less senior staff members.
  • Must demonstrate highly developed knowledge of current industry standard IT technologies and market trends.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, present and apply complex technology solutions to solve critical business requirements effectively and efficiently.
  • Proven experience working with senior level staff contributing to both short- and long-term technology related planning strategies.

Education and Experience

Level 3

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or a minimum of 7 years’ experience installing, maintaining, administrating, and supporting computer hardware and operating systems software such as Windows, HP-UNIX, LINUX, VMware, ESX or Active Directory.

Must possess a minimum of 5 years’ experience with maintaining and supporting computer hardware, operating systems software, networking protocols, internet technology and Windows services.

Level 4

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or a minimum of 10 years’ experience installing, maintaining, administrating, and supporting computer hardware and operating systems software such as Windows, HP-UNIX, LINUX, VMware, ESX or Active Directory.

Must possess a minimum of 8 years’ experience with maintaining and supporting computer hardware, operating systems software, networking protocols, internet technology and Windows services.

Level 5

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline; or a minimum of 12 years’ experience installing, maintaining, administrating, and supporting computer hardware and operating systems software such as Windows, HP-UNIX, LINUX, VMware, ESX or Active Directory.

Must possess a minimum of 10 years’ experience with maintaining and supporting computer hardware, operating systems software, networking protocols, internet technology and Windows services.
