Summary

  Responsible to provide support and assistance to Asst. Deputy Chief Stores Officer.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include but are not limit to:

  • Must have functional knowledge of all Warehouse activities, forms and documents.
  •  Must be proficient in Warehouse Management Systems operations and perform all appropriate input.
  •  Must perform general housekeeping in area of assignment.
  •  Must be able to conduct oneself in a businesslike fashion in all oral and written communications.
  •  Must be qualified to perform the specific method of operation pertinent to the various material distribution stations regarding receiving, storing and shipping, issuance of material and other related duties.
  •  Must have knowledge of all of the official documents, (i.e. MP-151, MW-121, SK-35, etc.), concerning the charge out of material including proper execution.
  •  Must be able to maintain perpetual inventory of specified classes of material.
  •  Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.
  •  Must be able to assist supervision in taking inventory, verifying out of stock and rectification of errors.
  •  Must perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  •  A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent (GED or TASC) approved by a State's Department of Education or recognized accredited organization.
  •  Approved safety shoes in accordance with Transportation Communications Union Agreement to be furnished by employee.
  •  Functional knowledge of all Stores administrative activities, forms and documents.
  •  Proficient in Warehouse Management Systems operations.
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License.

Wage Progression for New Employees:

Rate:  $38.813 is the 100% hourly rate of pay.

70% - 1st 365 Calendar Days

70% - 2nd 365 Calendar Days

75% - 3rd 365 Calendar Days

80% - 4th 365 Calendar Days

85% - 5th 365 Calendar  Days                                                                                                                                  85% - 6th 365 Calendar Days

90% - 7th 365 Calendar Days

100% - After 2,555 Calendar Days.

 

Current employee wage progression (hired prior to 9/24/2014):

Rate:  $38.813 is the 100% hourly rate of pay.

 70% - 1st 365 Calendar Days                                                                                                                                  75%-2nd 365 Calendar Days

80% - 3rd  365 Calendar Days

85% - 4th 365 Calendar Days

90% - 5th 365 Calendar Days

100% - After 1,825 Calendar Days

 

Other Information

 In addition to meeting the minimum requirements of the position, the selection process may include, but is not limited to, a pre-screening assessment (i.e. physical, written and/ or practical evaluation) and interview. In addition, LIRR employee applicants must be in their current position for the 12 months immediately preceding the close date of this posting and must possess a satisfactory work history, including attendance, safety and discipline record.
