Summary
A Senior Engineering Director Level 1 will demonstrate their ability to work independently and in a team and manage and succeed in a fast-paced engineering environment. This candidate will have a proven ability to analyze situations accurately and reach effective decisions based on informed judgment and consultation.
Responsibilities
Assists in leading a team of engineers involved in the concept modification, analysis, and review of third-party projects that may impact MTA C&D projects.
Acts as a team lead in coordinating detailed design reviews for all aspects of design reviews for third-party projects that may impact MTA structures and properties.
Uses various software and programs to develop/review analysis and design and plan preparation/review.
Prepares, reviews, and/or approves proposals, easement reviews, and determinations.
Assists the Project Management team through creative problem-solving during interactions with Agency Owners and by completing tasks to meet the project schedule.
Provides engineering oversight of construction and inspection support on active construction projects.
Reviews the work of peers and communicates constructive feedback.
Works with the Project Management team for project reviews, change procedures, etc.
Bachelor of Science degree in the appropriate Engineering disciplines (Civil, Structural, Geotechnical).
Masters preferred.
Must have a minimum of ten (10) years of related experience.
Must have a minimum of six (6) years in a management or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Competencies:
Registered NYS Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) is required to sign and seal reviews.
Experience in large-scale engineering issues for significant construction projects or projects with highly complex systems preferred.
Experience in NYCT systems preferred.
Experience leading and managing designers, contractors, subcontractors, and/or vendors.
Demonstrated knowledge of the applicable industry and NYS building and design codes and standards.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with stakeholders at all internal organizational levels to drive project/program outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to work in a high-profile, high-pressure environment effectively.
Must have focus and ability to deliver on results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
Must be a proven leader as a change agent and creative/innovative thinker with the ability to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.
Must possess excellent team-building, listening, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
Alternate Delivery experience preferred.
Proficiency in current design and engineering software and Microsoft Office are required.
An attitude and commitment to actively participating in our employee culture is necessary.
Able to multi-task and be flexible/adapt to rapidly changing project requirements/timelines.
