Summary
Design/Design Compliance Services has technical authority for establishing and auditing design delivery standards for all engineering and architectural disciplines in C&D Delivery. The Senior Director manages all architectural and engineering design processes within a Delivery Business Unit large project to conform to professional industry and MTA C&D standards. This position fosters key technical thought leaders who are experts in their discipline to provide MTA cutting edge solutions in driving design innovation and conformance.
Responsibilities
Oversees entire design/design compliance review team.
Fosters a culture of innovation and change in design delivery methods, technologies, and strategy.
Provides the DSO with lessons learned and strategies to streamline design reviews and creates training opportunities across integrated project teams.
Establishes, monitors, and/or audits the Design-Builder’s design and engineering activities for compliance with the Contract requirements and the Design-Builder’s Quality Control Plan.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction or Project Management, Business Administration, Transportation, or a related field.
Must have a minimum of twelve (12) years related experience, including at least eight (8) years in a management of design projects, or supervisory role in a large, multi-faceted organization. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Competencies:
Licensed Professional Engineer or Registered Architect required.
Demonstrated experience in design project management for major construction projects.
Proven ability to collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders and drive outcomes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability with building relationships and working collaboratively with stakeholders at all internal levels within the organization.
Demonstrated ability to work in a high profile, high pressure environment effectively.
Must have focus and ability to deliver on results, organizational effectiveness, and continuous improvement.
Must be a proven leader as a change agent and creative/innovative thinker with the ability to align business goals with solutions to drive process improvements.
Must possess excellent team building, listening, problem solving, and prioritization skills.
As an MTA Construction & Development employee, you may be required to complete the New York State financial disclosure statement – annually if your position earns $108,638 (this figure is subject to change) per year if the position is designated as a policymaker.
